About MeI have been teaching science for over 12 years. I feel privileged to be able to share with my students this incredible collective knowledge we call Science. I teach because I am passionate about science, but more importantly, I am passionate about teaching science. I love being able to get students excited about what they are learning by creating lessons and units that help them understand the world around them. I believe in "Hands On, Minds On" learning. Students need to feel engaged in what they are learning and the best way to do that is to have them do the science.

Education & Teaching Experience |
I went to the University of Michigan (GoBlue!) where I studied Biology and Scientific and Medical Illustration. I then went back to school when I realized that teaching was what I really wanted to do. I received my Masters in Education with a concentration in Biology and Integrated Science (with a focus on Chemistry and Earth Science) from UofM. I student taught at CHS in 2003/2004 while receiving my Masters degree in Education from the University of Michigan. I then taught 8th grade science for 9 years in Saline, MI. I was a PLTW teacher for three of those years and taught Gateway to Technology, Automation and Robotics, and Energy in the Environment. I was also head coach of a Science Olympiad team for seven years. This is currently my sixth year teaching at CHS and I love working here. It is such a great feeling knowing that everyday I get to work with such inspiring students and colleagues.

Outside of the Classroom |
When I am not teaching, I really enjoy music, photography, staying active by playing Ultimate Frisbee on a club team, traveling and spending time with friends and family. I am a Mom to toddler twin boys, Teo and Toben and couldn't be happier. They are my little FOS bosses in training. I absolutely love traveling and exploring. One of my personal goals is to visit every National Park in the U.S. I have been to 13 and my favorite so far has been Bryce Canyon National Park. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them!
